DUTY MANAGER - FULL TIME
We are now expanding our team and the opportunity for a new Duty manager has become available.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate, hard working individual to join our existing management team, an individual with drive and ambition to move our centre forward in the coming years, as we expand the centre to cater for a growing audience.
The position is full time, working morning, evening and weekend shifts on a rotational basis.
The ideal candidate will have previous management experience, with a track record of managing and motivating people. You should have a flexible approach to work, possess excellent communication and customer service skills, and be able to comfortably converse with adults and children alike.
As a Duty manager your responsibilities will include the opening and closing of the facility, carrying out essential safety checks in both the climbing centre and skatepark and ensuring Health & Safety is at the forefront of all that we do. The successful candidate will be responsible for the smooth running of the centre during their shift, offering support and guidance to the staff be this reception, instruction, route setting, café or skate park, as well as assisting the senior management to drive the business forward.
The role is predominantly climbing orientated, though this position also includes general oversight of the skatepark’s activities and its users.
You will be required to deliver groups which can range from simple taster sessions to birthday parties, learn to climb sessions and GCSE/NICAS courses.
There is also the opportunity to work with the head route setter to hone your route setting skills on the lines and in our bouldering area.
You will ideally have some general DIY knowledge and have the ability to help with minor repairs and upgrades within the centre.
Minimum CWI (CWDI preferred)
Current first aid certificate
Current CRB check (though one will be performed)
Have previous management experience (all levels considered)
Reliable & punctual

Ability to cope under pressure
Be a team leader and team player
Previous cash handling experience
Computer literacy skills
You will need to have a flexible approach to working and be able to adapt to changes in circumstances.
This role reports directly to the Centre Manager

Salary: £18,000min (£9.80ph)

FRONT OF HOUSE RECEPTION (AS OF 21/2/20)
Hours: Working on a two week about rota, the successful candidate would be required to work:
Week 1: Week 2:
Monday 10am - 4pm Monday off
Tuesday off Tuesday 10am - 2.15pm
Wednesday 5:30pm-10pm Wednesday 10am - 2.15pm
Thursday off Thursday 10am - 2.15pm
Friday 10am - 4pm Friday 4pm - 10pm
Saturday 10am-6pm Saturday off
Sunday 10am-6pm Sunday off
Responsibilities of the job include:
- Dealing with telephone and email enquiries
- Taking bookings
- Data entry
- Signing in members to the centre
- Basic belay assessments for new climbing members (training will be provided)
- Assignment of shifts
- Skate Shop and Climbing Shop sales
- Maintaining the reception area clean and tidy
- Café assistance when necessary
- General assistance in other areas in the centre when required.
The successful candidate will:

- Have customer service experience
Desirable yet non-essential attributes include:
- Reception experience
- Basic Microsoft Office knowledge
