creation's new bouldering room - opens march 20th 2010
Update : March 10th 2010
Thousands of holds are now been used to set hundreds of new problems in our new bouldering extension. The burning question that we get asked countless times each day is 'when is it opening?', well we can now announce an opening date of March 20th 2010.
We still have the main compeition wall to build, and this will be opened in a few months time, but the rest of this exicting new development will be open from March 20th.
The new room will use the circuits system, adopted by many other major bouldering venues. It's a great way of easily locating the problems within a specific grade band.
Our opening day will include boot demo's by Red Chilli & Madrock.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We get asked countless times each day when the new bouldering room is going to open. Well, fingers crossed the first half of the new room will open late Janaury 2010. So if your local wall's bouldering area is too small for you, or you can't make head nor tail of the problems get yourself down to Creation's new 8000sqft bouldering extension and get stuck in to the wealth of new circuits that will be on offer, in addition to our existing bouldering wall and a main roped facility with over 100 lines and 350 routes!!!
Pictured below you can see a small selection of photos of some of the areas built already, which will shortly be painted, and matted.
There's still lots of work to do, but it's looking fantastic! The first set of mats are due to arrive in mid January, along with the wear sheets.
Were also all too aware that the existing bouldering mat is looking a little worse for wear. Unfortuantely the wear sheet has torn massively recently, and our efforts to try to repair it are proving unsuccessfull due to the volume of traffic it receives. However, we will need to perserve with it for the time being.

The inside of the new open cave system. So many differrent angles will make this a real challenge to climb. Sadly, this picture does it no justice. When you sit at the bottom and look up your heart sinks! |

The cave has been designed so that it is not as enclosed as the existing bouldering wall. It's open on two sides, making it more interesting to both set and climb. It allows us to set routes not just through the steep roof, but sideways out of the cave as well. | ![]() |
The back of the cave, again with loads of angles. |

The outside wall of the cave isn't just vertical either. Whether it's traversing round the cave walls or upwards, these walls have been designed to make routes more interesting. | ![]() |
Another view of the back of the cave area. Off to the left will sit the new campus boards and system board. |

Another, well, huge angle! | ![]() |
The Dyno wall was build specifically for the BMFF back in 2007. We have moved the wall in to the bouldering area and will be equipping it again for both dyno lovers, and maybe a few circuits. |
